Hi, I'm Aims
I’m a coffee drinking, big earring wearing, print and colour lover! Nothing lights me up more than sharing my passion for sewing and inspiring creativity.
I started the Indy Bindy Sewciety to create a space for sewists to show up as their full selves, to share our passion and to connect and grow together.
Sewing can be solitary, but it doesn’t have to be. Often the people in our day-to-day lives just don’t get it like a fellow sewist does. Getting to celebrate all the details of the journey as well as a fresh-off-the-machine make with people who are just as excited you as you.. it's delicious. Feeling supported to explore your sewing practice in new ways and excited as you discover all things you didn't know - absolute warm & fuzzy joy!
Only another sewist understands the thrill of beautiful fabric, finding the right pattern, a perfectly installed zip or mastering a skill you put off for way too long… the list goes on!
I’d love to welcome you into the Indy Bindy Sewciety. Frequently Asked Questions
What if I can’t make a lot of the live calls?
No worries, all calls will be recorded so you can rewatch them at your pace! I also vary the time and day of the calls to accommodate as many time zones as possible and give you the best opportunity to join.
Am I too old/young?
Definitely not. We have sewists of all ages in the community. The only qualifier for joining is that you love sewing and want to share that passion with us!
I really want to sew …[insert garment or technique]
Let us know your goals and we will help you reach them! Either through resources, training or accountability. And we will be your biggest cheerleaders. The great thing about the Sewciety is that you can also have an input into the training and sewalongs we do - we love hearing your ideas!
I’m feeling overwhelmed, I don’t think I can add another thing
We can help with the overwhelm! Whether you need to find more time for sewing, clarity on what to sew or how to get better results - we're here for you. It’s so good having a community to go to with questions or just to reassure you you’re on the right track. You will have others at the same stage as you as well as others that are further along and can share their experience.
I’m an introvert, will this work for me?
Yes! You can interact as much or as little as you want. The community is so warm, friendly and fun. You will find yourself feeling comfortable before you know it.
Not sure I’ll have much time to sew. Will this work for me?
The Me Time Maker training inside the Sewciety will be perfect for you. It will help you carve out more time to sew in your full life! Also if you don’t have a lot of time to sew - the Sewciety can provide that connection to the craft without having to sit at your machine. Pop in and see what others are up to, celebrate them, and share your insights and experience. Or soak up one of the classes or interviews in the library while you go about the other tasks in your day. Then you’ll be fully ready once you do get some time to sit at your machine!
I’m new to sewing, will I get left behind?
Absolutely not. There is no such thing as ‘behind’ in the Sewciety. You can attend the live calls and trainings OR you can go at your open pace and we’ll be here to cheer you on and support you every step of the way!
How often do you meet?
There are three to four opportunities to catch up live every month. This includes two Sewcial Meet Up Calls, one Live Guest Speaker Call and sometimes the monthly training is held live as well! All calls are recorded so that you can watch the replays if the times don’t work for you. You also get access to the Sewing Room - our private community where we can connect with each other on a daily basis at any hour that suits you. This is where you can share and ask any questions as they come up!
Am I locked in?
No, you can cancel anytime before your next payment and choose not to renew by simply emailing aims@indybindy.com.au
